Dushanbe raises the question of transferring 201 nd military base – the largest land base of foreign Russia – for a fee. Moscow is also the question of the final withdrawal of Russian border troops of the Republic, writes in the newspaper Thursday Kommersant with reference to the unnamed representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Experts believe that such actions Tajikistan is trying to tread on Russia to get its financial support. On Thursday begins a two-day visit of the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev in Tajikistan.

According to the newspaper, over the past year relations of Moscow and Dushanbe sharply deteriorated. In early February, President of the Central Asian republics Emomali Rakhmon not arrived in Moscow at the CSTO and EurAsEC summits. A week ago, he introduced to parliament a draft law, which prohibits the use of Russian language in the official sphere.

Medvedev during his visit, in addition to bilateral military cooperation in particular, will discuss the status of Russian language in Tajikistan and the Tajik-Russian cooperation in energy, transmits RIA Novosti .

main practical outcome of the visit should be the signature act of gospriemke Sangtuda GES-1, which dostraivali since 2005, Russian companies on Russian money. After signing the document Tajikistan shall pay its share (25% plus one share), it also allows to enter the market price for energy produced hydroelectric power station, which will give Russia an opportunity to recoup their costs. However, the signing of the act in question, said Kommersant.

According to experts, because of falling prices for cotton and aluminum – the main article of commodity exports in Tajikistan – the situation in the country has become very sad. Yesterday Rahmon called on the people of Tajikistan to prepare food for two years.

paper makes the assumption that Moscow still expects to reach agreement with Dushanbe.

Divisions 201 th Motorized Division, which in 2004 received status of 4-th military base and that the media called the 201 th base, deployed in Dushanbe and Kurgan-Tube and Kulyab (south-west of Tajikistan). The military contingent is 7,5 thousand people.
